Dunarea de Jos University of Galati

Dunarea de Jos University of Galati was founded in 1948 and since then it has been on a mission to prepare specialists in different socio-economical fields, actively participating in supporting and passing on science and culture, contributing to the enrichment of the local and national knowledge heritage based on scientific research. Dunarea de Jos University of Galati is a cultural and civic education centre that promotes cultural as well as scientific and social values at a local and national scale. Being the biggest and most important education centre in the South-East of Romania, with 15,000 to 17,000 annual students, Dunarea de Jos University of Galati has become a leader in technical, scientific and socio-cultural advancements which have an immediate impact on the progress of Galati County. This is why Dunarea de Jos University of Galati is constantly connected to the socio-economical environment as it provides specialists, consulting and technical solutions to everyday problems.

The University has a doctoral centre, IOSUD –Dunarea de Jos University of Galati, which is home for 500 doctoral students who are, in turn, supervised by 75 professors. This is why, Dunarea de Jos University of Galati benefits from two POSDRU strategic projects that are implemented to support young doctoral students.
