TOPACADEMIC Project
The SOPHRD project: Quality and continuity of training in doctoral studies – TOP-ACADEMIC is a strategic project meant to support a group of 60 doctoral students.
The overall objective of the Top-Academic project is to stimulate human resources that include highly trained Bologna Ph D students.
The present project is meant to enhance the scientific awareness of the target group. Concomitantly, the project is meant to prepare the target group to work as future managers of scientific and technological research projects in both research centres and companies that rely on scientific research products.
To this end, the specific objectives of the Top-Academic project are the following:
- To stimulate doctoral students’ activity and their activity in professional preparation and scientific research according to the quality objectives from the University’s Development Strategy and also to the requirements of SOPHRD, Axis 1, major area of intervention 1.5 that provides financial support and covers costs for the study and monitoring of results.
- To support 60 doctoral students from the priority fields of the National Strategy of Research Development in the eligible doctoral fields for which the University is financed by the state budget and receives scholarships and financial support.
- To improve the content of doctoral studies curricula and to update them according to the latest national and international scientific and technological advancements in order to increase participation in doctoral studies through continuous monitoring of performance, which further relies on credits and evaluation of the curriculum.
- To increase efficiency of the University’s scientific and technological activity through increase of involvement on the part of target group in international research projects that enhances academic activity and the role played by our university in a national and international context by implementation of continuous monitoring through credit points and regular activity assessments.
- To support the doctoral students’ involvement in international trainings in well-known laboratories in order to increase scientific experience and access to European resources of research and learning, covering costs needed for travelling, scholarships and financial support.
The present project is meant to support the University in complying with the EU principle and requirements regarding optimum involvement of human resources supporting long-term economic growth in view of Lisabona priorities, the main concern being that of offering EU the role of world leader in the global field of economics based on knowledge.
